What does parkingmate do?
Parkingmate is a parkingspace sharing community. The trick is simple: Everybody who shares his temporarily unused parking space, can rent one for themselves at their travel destination.

How does parkingmate work?
Parkingmate is based on a community idea. Everybody who owns a parkingspace and doesn't use it for a certain time (e.g. going to work during the day) can share it in the community. If you do so, you can rent one for free at your destination.

Do I have to share a parkingspace in order to rent one?
No. Drivers who can't (or don't want to) share a parkingspace with the parkingmate community can still rent one, but need to pay per hour. The income will be transfered to the owner of the parkingspace you're using.

How are parking space prices calculated?
The parkingmate servers monitor the availability of all parkingspaces in a certain region. The system automatically calculates the price for parking spaces according to a availability-booking ratio. If parkingspaces in a certain region are always booked, they will be more expensive then in regions where there are always available spaces.

Who can book parking spaces for free?
All users who register a parking space can book another one for free. The parkingmate servers calculate the individual prices for each registered parking space. If your parking space is equally or more expensive than the one you wish to book, then you don't have to pay anything. If your parking space is priced lower to the one you wish to book, the you only need to pay the price difference to the chosen parking space. The full price has only to be paid by users who don't share a parking space in the parkingmate sharing community.

For who is parkingmate interesting?
For everybody who can share their parking space as they temporarily don't use it (away on holiday, at work etc.).

Why should I register my parking space?
Because then you participate at the coolest parking space community ever. You will never again have any trouble in finding a parking space, because you can previously book one in advance. And maybe you can earn money by renting out your own parking space.

How much does parkingmate cost?
Nothing. There are different membership options, but you can rent and book also with a free account. The rent for a parking space is free, if you offer the community your parking space which is priced at the same level as the one you wish to book.

Is there a period of cancellation?
No. You can always delete your account and your parking space.

What is the cost of a parking space?
In principle, the parking spaces are free of charge. Wait, not quite! If you register your own parking space with parkingmate, you can use other parking spaces of the same value, worldwide. If you want to park on a more expensive parking space, you only pay the difference in parkingpoints. The full price you pay only if you don't register and share a parking space on parkingmate.

How are the prices calculated?
The price of an individual parking space is calculated by our servers. It is a mixed calculation of supply and demant in a given time period. If all parking spaces of a specific area are booked, the price rises. This price can decrease when more parking spaces in the surroundings are free and open to book.

Is there a minimal price of a parking space?
Yes. The basic price for any parking space at the time of registration is 5 parkingpoints. Consider that you only pay for a parking space you rent if you don't offer one yourself. If you are offering a parking space to the community, you can trade it for your own parking needs at another location.

What are parkingpoints?
Parkingpoint is the parkingmate currency. 100 parkingpoints compare to CHF 10.- (Swiss Francs) or the corresponding amount in your local currency.
